		The literature still delivered a moral, but more and more, it was left to the reader to supply his or her own moral from the material the author offered.
		The lessons of the literature are clear: 1) Morton was an immoral man (haughty, individualistic, drunk); 2) the colony did their best to correct him; 3) such correction was to no avail so he was separated from the colony.
		In American literature, authors were much more comfortable in passing by the first and most convenient answer, in investigating the possibilities, in challenging absolute authority, and in allowing for the inescapable vicissitudes of human nature.

		The "deathbed" edition may be too large and intimidating a literary tapestry for Whitman "virgins"; the reprinted 1855 edition may thus be a good way to begin exploring the bounteous poetic talent and vision of this giant.
		While the 1855 "Leaves" is missing vast sections of the deathbed version, it is still a stunning work of art that succeeds as a self-sufficient piece of literature and philosophy.

		First described by Aristotle in 200 BC, stress fractures were initially recorded in the medical literature in 1855 by the Prussian military physician Breithaupt, who described what is now known as a "march fracture" (stress fracture of the metatarsals).
		The incidence of stress fracture in the general population is unknown, as virtually all literature on the subject is derived from a military population or advanced-level athletes.
		Stress fractures are estimated to comprise up to 16% of all injuries that are related to athletic participation; running is the cause in most of these.
