  SCIENCE
Science can examine and analyze present processes and materials, but science cannot say conclusively how things came into existence, because origins are not subject to experimental verification.
Science without Scripture sets forth the universal scheme as blind, meaningless, and purposeless never knowing of an hour of creation, or consummation, and in the perceptive of an infinity of years and an immensity of space our human hopes, joys, tragedies, aspirations, civilizations, intellectual and artistic achievements are meaningless, insignificant and trivial.
Science in harmony with the Scripture and human life with all its hopes, joys, tragedies, aspirations, civilizations, intellectual and artistic achievements become the very center of the universe.

Science is nothing but trained and organized common sense differing from the latter only as a veteran may differ from a raw recruit: and its methods differ from those of common sense only as far as the guardsman's cut and thrust differ from the manner in which a savage wields his club.
Science is facts; just as houses are made of stone, so is science made of facts; but a pile of stones is not a house, and a collection of facts is not necessarily science.

H.R. 1858, National Mathematics and Science Partnerships Act
H.R. 1858 would authorize the appropriation of approximately $1.5 billion over the 2002-2006 period and $100 million after 2006 for education initiatives of the National Science Foundation (NSF).
This bill would authorize NSF to implement several new grant and teacher scholarship programs related to mathematics and science education, expand the NSF's digital library of elementary and secondary education resources, and conduct several studies related to improving technology in education.
For this estimate, CBO assumes that H.R. 1858 would be enacted in fiscal year 2001, and that the amounts authorized will be appropriated each year.

Many activities are today characterized as "Science!", while other activities are just as definitely characterized as "Pseudoscience!", maybe without the one making the judgement always having made it clear to himself what he really means with the words he is using.
The other, termed "science ideal", refers to that science, which within a paradigm is considered to be the best expression/reflection of what science "is" and should be.
During the "idealistic" period of science one built the world picture on the basis of the doctrine of the elements, just as one, during the following "materialistic" period of science has put much energy into the work of building a consistent world picture, based on the idea of the atom.

The world is yet in its infancy, so far as social science is concerned, and we therefore hail every effort made to take from labor its exhausting toil, and from poverty its sting.
This can only be accomplished when science becomes the handmaid of humanity, and lifts from the shoulders of man the weight that machinery is destined to perform.

 House Committee on Science
The problem is that fewer and fewer American college students are majoring in mathematics, engineering, technology, or science, particularly in the physical sciences.
The problem is rather that our colleges and universities, by and large, do not do enough to encourage students to remain in science, math and engineering; indeed, sometimes students are actively discouraged.
Under the bill, the National Science Foundation (NSF) would provide grants to improve undergraduate science, math and engineering education that are contingent on the grantee increasing the number of graduating majors in those fields by a specific amount, without reducing quality.

HR-1858: Math and Science Partnership (MSP) Legislation
The solicitation demands participation of departments of mathematics, science or engineering, but it is not sufficiently clear in its emphasis on this point.
Partnerships would focus on strengthening the quality of math and science instruction in elementary and secondary schools and could include such activities as making math and science curricula more rigorous, improving math and science professional development, attracting math and science majors to teaching, and aligning high school math and science standards to foster college placement.
The Centers seem to be loaded with extraneous requirements: promote active collaboration among physical, biological, and social science researchers, promote active participation by elementary and secondary mathematics and science teachers and administrators; foster new multidisciplinary collaborations; attract precollege educators from a diverse array of schools and professional experiences.
