Richard Wagner [+] was one of the most revolutionary figures in music, and dominated the development of classical music from about 1850 to 1875, a quarter-century, significantly, in which not a single new symphony was produced that entered the permanent standard repertoire.
However, his music is so symphonic in nature, that he is the only opera composer whose operatic excerpts you are more likely to encounter at the symphony rather than at vocal recitals.
His affair with Frau Wesendonk was proceding apace, and Wagner set five of her love poems to music, now known as Wesendonk Lieder, in which he more or less established the revolutionary new harmonic vocabulary he would use in Tristan, which he began composing in August.

Dale Adelmann was named Director of Music at All Saints’, Beverly Hills, in 2003 following the retirement of Thomas Foster, under whose leadership, for more than a quarter-century, the music ministry of the parish flourished and rose to national prominence in the Episcopal Church.
He also served as Musical Director of The Gentlemen of St. John’s, the semi-professional choral ensemble comprising the choral scholars of the St. John’s College Choir, conducting concert tours of Sweden, Northern Ireland, Wales, England, and the USA.
Adelmann holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and the School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music at Yale University, respectively.

 The Music of Carrie Jacobs-Bond (1862-1946)
Carrie Jacobs-Bond was born on 11 August 1862 in Janesville, Wisconson and died on 8 December 1946 in Glendale, California at the age of 84.
She was later married in 1887 (age 25) to Dr. Frank Lewis Bond until his death in 1895.
She was the owner of the music publishing company called The Bond Shop which had various addresses, all in Chicago, IL, among which were: 1) 5535 Drexel Avenue; 2) 746 South Michigan Avenue; and, 3) the Fine Arts Building.
