1320 BC wrote a letter to the king of the Ahhiyawa, treating him as an equal and implying that Miletus (Millawanda) was controlled by the Ahhiyawa, and also referring to an earlier "Wilusa episode" involving hostility on the part of the Ahhiyawa.

In the late 20th century archaeologists discovered evidence of human habitation before 8000 BC in an area in the southwestern corner of Egypt, near the border with Sudan.
Scientific analysis of the remains of their culture indicates that by 6000 BC they were herding cattle and constructing large buildings.

At least twice in the 1870s, a national weekly newspaper, Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, published articles and illustrations about Mennonite immigrants from Russia.
The images from the 1875 article have become the classic visual symbols of the 1870s Mennonite immigration into the United States.
The 1875 illustrations also appeared in the German version of the paper, Frank Leslie's Illustrierte Zeitung, on the same date with the same illustrations, but with a text (in German) that focused more on the Mennonites' European history and less on the Kansas settlement.

He was appointed Principal of the Coqualeetza Institute in Sardis in 1914, and served there until his retirement in 1933, the same year in which he received the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity from Union College.
He was a Fellow of both the Royal Geographical Society and the Society of the Arts, and also wrote for the Art, Historical and Scientific Association of B.C. He lived in Vancouver with his daughter Judith Charlton from1939 until his death in 1958; he was survived by Judith and a son, George E. Raley.

I was curiously elated to find this picture in the BC Provincial Archives.

A mini-replica of the 1870s church built by Kelowna's first settlers is being constructed on the Rampone farm, where Father Charles Pandosy is buried.
Valentino Rampone said the 100-square-foot building will serve as a permanent memorial to the Catholic Oblate Missionary, who settled in Kelowna and built its first church.
