TWENTIETH CENTURY LITERATURE   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
In Serbian literature, similar phenomena are to be noticed not only in the appearance of the Parnassian lyric poems of Vojislav Ilic (who had a large number of followers and was a dominant figure in the 1890s), but in literary criticism as well.
Literature noticeably depended on the general political-ideological changes, which were often sharp and sudden, but which decade after decade lost their strength, and thus the art of literature was able to continue its independent development.
He is a well-known historian of Serbian literature, and he captured the fancy of both domestic and foreign critics and readers with a novel strangely written in the form of a dictionary (Dictionary of the Khazars, 1984).

A single difference between Zamyatin and these celebrated writers made the difference between fame and relative obscurity: Zamyatin was Russian, and while the others blossomed in the freedom of the English press, Zamyatin suffered under the censorship of Stalin.
Zamyatin's young life was precisely that which one would imagine for a great writer, one of solitude and literature.
Born in 1884, he was raised in the Russian wilderness of Lebedyan.

Interpretation - International Standard Bible Encyclopedia
Referred specifically to the sacred Scriptures, the science of interpretation is generally known as hermeneutics, while the practical application of the principles of this science is exegesis.
The Scriptures are written in Hebrew and in Greek, and the principles of forms and of syntax that would apply to the explanation of other works written in these languages and under these circumstances must be applied to the Old Testament and New Testament also.
In modern times, not at all prolific in scientific discussions of hermeneutical principles and practices, the exegetical methods of different interpreters are chiefly controlled by their views as to the origin and character of the Scriptural books, particularly in regard to their inspiration.

The aforementioned German authors reveal an ambivalent stance towards British India: on the one hand they criticize the British Empire, on the other hand, they employ a colonialist discourse that enables the construction of the 'Other' as savage and submissive.
Employing postcolonial theory and post-Said debates on travel and identity, I demonstrate how this group of travelogues exposes the contradictions and ambiguities of German cultural and colonial superiority, when the scramble for colonies had reached its zenith in Europe.
However, the characteristic of the German Indienliteratur lies in the fact that these tensions and insecurities are always overcome at the end of the physical and literary travels.
