Florence was breeding ground for art at the time, and an important commercial centre, the Medici Family, a merchant- and banker-family, was predominant in Florence in two periods from 1434-1494 and from 1525-1737.
The art that illustrated harmony was not based on harmony in the society, perhaps the disintegration of society had created the artistic perfection.
The naturalistic art was dominated by the central perspective.

Architecture in Transition: From Art to Practice, 1885--1906. by Bryan Melnyk   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
In contrast to the situation of 1885, Crossman notes that by 1906 architecture had become a sophisticated art, progressive, competitive, and well-supported by the Canadian public.Architecture in Transition is divided into three main sections.
The importance of the design theories of the Arts and Crafts Movement and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts on the architectural community in Ontario and Quebec is also explored.Nationalistic expression is the focus of Part Three.
Crossman suggests that it was not until the spread of Arts and Crafts ideas after 1890 that Canadian architects seriously began to adapt their designs to the materials, climate, and history of the nation.

 The Workers' Share of Art
the workers, by means of whose hands the mass of art must be made, are forced by the commercial system to live, even at the best, in places so squalid and hideous that no one could live in them and keep his sanity without losing all sense of the beauty and enjoyment of life.
Maybe, indeed, art is sick to death even now, and nothing but its already half-dead body is left upon the earth; but also, may we not hope that we shall not have to wait for the new birth of art till we attain the peace of the realized New Order?
It is not the excitement of battling for a great and worthy end which is the foe to art, but the dead weight of sordid, unrelieved anxiety, the anxiety for the daily earning of a wretched pittance by labour degrading at once to body and mind, both by its excess and by its mechanical nature.

 MILTON AVERY 1885
comer to the art world, this dual showing represented an important opportunity to reinforce the direction he had chosen, and he consequently created some of his most important works during that year.
Known for his wit and taciturnity, Avery probably did not remark on the implicit criticism of his art that his friends' letter represented.
The success of Avery's undertaking can be ascertained in the ways that he has taken both the anonymity and abstraction of modern life and made them both as fresh and familiar as an infant cavorting in a favored heirloom Victorian lady's chair.

Post-Impressionism Art - Artists, Artworks and Biographies
The terms was first used by English art critic Roger Fry describing the work of painters such as Paul Cezanne, Georges Seurat, Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec among others.
The term does not define a singular style or approach, it encompasses all artists that whose main goal was to express more than a visual interpretation.
Also related to Pointillism, a technique associated with Paul Signac and Georges Seurat, this partition of the movement called themselves the Neo-Impressionists because of their impressionist revival.

It is sometimes claimed that the phrase "bear arms" in the Second Amendment is a term of art that only refers to bearing arms while serving in a militia.
[5] The Pennsylvania language suggests that "bear arms" is not a term of art which means only militia usage and nothing else.
1885: "The right of the people to bear arms in defense of themselves and the lawful authority of the State, shall not be infringed, but the Legislature may prescribe the manner in which they may be borne." [72]
