PRINCIPLES OF MUSIC UNIFORM TITLES A Brief Introduction by Matthew W. Wise, Music Librarian, New York University Libraries use music uniform titles in their catalog records to uniquely identify and to collocate similar printed and recorded musical works by a composer.
Music uniform titles are a device by which musical scores and recordings may be found more easily in a library's catalog.
In the following examples, music uniform titles appear within [brackets] between the composer's name and the title as it appears on the score or recording (known as the "title proper").

Many years ago, when I first began to listen to classical music, I was appalled that some record companies printed on their LP record sleeves, the names of their conductors (notably Karajan) in huge letters but the composers' names in much smaller type (yes, even Beethoven!) Outraged, I used to boycott these discs on principle.
Anne Sofie von Otter is a lovely lady and I am not at all sure she would have condoned having her name writ large and Korngold's in much smaller letters.
She is also very keen on Korngold's chamber music saying it has great intensity, rhythmic buoyancy and colour.

Despite the fact that accompanying music on movies had moved after 1929 from live theater instruments to pre-recorded soundtrack, ASCAP continued to license soundtrack music in movie theaters in the subsequent years.
The marketing of music for independent labels has become considerably more difficult during the last few years due to increased competition and because the major labels have driven up the cost and reduced access to most general and music media.

He was the Baltimore correspondent for Musical America from 1905 to 1948, and for a time the music critic for the Baltimore Evening Sun.
Sometimes it was just a matter of rearranging the music for a different group of voices or instruments; at other times it amounted to a completely new use of the thematic material.
Most of the manuscript music is not dated, so, after being separated into categories of minor vocal or instrumental pieces and major works, manuscripts were usually numbered according to the order in which they were stacked when donated.
