  The Macedonian Question, 1908-1912.
Early in 1908 Russia and Austria-Hungary fell out over the execution of the M├╝rzsteg program, by the terms of which a system of reform had been instituted in Macedonia.
In January, 1908, Baron Aerenthal announced that Austria-Hungary had applied for permission to survey the ground for a railroad to connect the terminus of the Bosnian Railway with the line running from Metrovitza to Salonica.
Baron Aerenthal promptly dispelled all doubts as to the correctness of Russia's inference by declaring that the special task of Russia and Austria in Macedonia was concluded.

  Polio In 1908, Massachusetts
The first strongly presents the idea of virus causality and then an overview of the polio epidemics, and the second is the detailed analysis by the Health Inspector of the fairly localized epidemic in northwestern Massachusetts (Franklin County), which constituted over half of the polio cases in the state.
In 1907 the cases of infantile paralysis in their distribution in a general way corresponded to the density of population in the state, grouping themselves as a rule about the centers of densest population, and only in and about Pittsfield, where some 28 cases occurred, was there evidence of any marked epidemic.
In 1908 carbon-tetrachloride was used as a fumigant in grain silos, etc. It was also used to extract cotton seed oil, probably in the Colrain cotton mills, which was at the geographic center of the epidemic, where the highest density of poio cases occurred, in this 1908 Massachusetts polio epidemic in Franklin County.

1908 Summer Olympics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 1908 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the IV Olympiad, were held in 1908 in London, England.
However, these have since been retroactively downgraded by the International Olympic Committee and thus the 1908 Games are seen as the start of the Fourth Olympiad, in keeping with the now-accepted four-year cycle.
The 1908 Olympics also prompted the establishment of standard rules for sports, and the selection of judges from different countries, rather than just the host.

The 1908 Olympic Games were originally due to be staged in the Italian capital of Rome.
A catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1906, however, forced a change of plan as Italy had to divert its priorities and Olympic finances towards the rebuilding of the shattered area around the volcano.
Prime among them was the venue - the first purpose-built Olympic stadium, at White City, completed in just 10 months and officially opened by King Edward VII on 27 April 1908.

Changes to Consultation Procedures, 29 CFR Part 1908
In response to the demand for consultation in other states, Part 1908 was first promulgated on May 20, 1975, (40 FR 21935) to authorize federal funding of onsite consultation activity by States without approved State Plans through cooperative agreements entered into under the authority of sections 21(c) and 7(c)(1) of the Act.
Part 1908 was subsequently amended on August 16, 1977 (42 FR 41386) to clarify a number of provisions which had been subject to misinterpretation, as well as to increase the level of Federal funding to ninety percent, a level that was considered necessary to provide a strong incentive for States to enter the program.
The revisions to 29 CFR Part 1908 were issued as a proposed rule on July 2, 1999, prior to the effective date of this Executive Order, and accordingly the specific intergovernmental consultation process provided under this Executive Order was not conducted.
