		Since 1901 the increase has been more rapid, in 1905 alone 144, 621 emigrants entered Canada, of whom two fifths were from Great Britain and one-third from the US.
		In the rural parts of the province the French are driving out the English-speaking settlers, especially in the Eastern Townships (populated by Loyalists who came to Canada after the American War of Independence).
