The 1914 Junior TT was held in heavy rain and mist on the Mountain Section of the course and was won by Eric Williams riding an AJS motor-cycle in 4 hours, 6 minutes and 50 seconds at an average speed of 45.58 mph.
The 1920 Junior TT Race was intially led by Eric Williams the winner of the 1914 Junior TT Race riding a Sunbeam motor-cycle and set a new Junior TT lap record of 44 minutes and 6 seconds an average speed of 51.36 mph.
In the Junior TT Race of 1924 was won by Ken Twemlow on a New Imperial motor-cycle at an average speed of 55.67 mph.

In 1911 the first TT's on the Mountain Circuit were held with P J Evans on a Humber winning the Junior 350cc TT at 41.45mph and O C Godfrey on an Indian the Senior 500cc TT at 47.63mph.
During the 2000 TT meeting, David Jefferies became the first rider to lap at over 125mph when on the final lap of the Senior TT he lapped in 18 minutes 0.6 seconds, 125.69mph.
Joey Dunlop is the most successfull rider ever in the history of the TT races with 26 wins between 1977 and 2000.

 About The Audi TT
The Tourist Trophy remained on the Isle of Man until 1922, after which events were held in Ards, Donington, Dundrod, Silverstone and on other circuits.
However, it was the sheer difficulty of the Isle of Man road circuit and the notable personalities from automobile history who took part - the race was won in 1906 by C. Rolls driving his own Rolls Royce - that soon made the Tourist Trophy the motor-sport legend that it is today.
Developed from the standard TT model for competition use, the NSU TTS had a 1000 cc engine with a power output of up to 85 bhp, and played a leading part in its class on the motor-sport scene.

In 1911 the riders turned right and Cronk-ny-Mona and proceeded down Johnny Wattersons lane to Ballanard Road where the pits were situated and from Ballanard Road turned right onto the current TT course at St Ninians crossroads.
The Junior was won by P J Evans on a Humber at 41.45 mph and the Senior by Oliver Godfrey on an Indian at 47.63 mph.
With the removal of the TT from the World Championship calendar the Isle of Man never attracted all the top G P riders again, although 350 world champions Takazumi Katayama and Jon Ekerold, and Rolf Biland and Jock Taylor two World Champion Sidecar drivers did compete here in the late 1970's and early 1980's.

The Isle of Man (Ellan Vannin), is a small island, somewhat elongated and slightly angled that sits in the Irish sea midway between Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland.
For the 1911 TT, a number of changes would take place which included, the handing over of the organisation of the race to the ACU (Auto-Cycle Union), the first signs of commercialism, the building of grandstands and the introduction of the Mountain Course, which is approximately 60.71km (37.73 mi) long.
The Senior TT was held on Thursday 21 May. After the tragedy of two days before and the incredible sadness felt by all, there was a release of tension from the angst that had been building.

The first two weeks of June are the Isle of Man TT Races, the "professional" races, and the September series is the "Manx Grand Prix," the "amateur" series, both held over Man's famous 37.73 mile mountain course.

During the first lap of the 1934 Lightweight Race, Syd Crabtree, the winner of the 1929 Lightweight Race crashed at the Stonebreakers Hut on the Mountain Section and was killed.

 Team Triumph - Triumph History
In 1911 the TT races moved to their present home on the 37.5 mile Mountain Circuit and although Triumphs performed well they struggled against the mighty Indians.
With a capacity of 550cc the Type SD was too big to enter the Senior TT and, in 1921 Triumph fielded six bikes, with all-new single cylinder engines of 500cc capacity.
Ironically, Val Page, an ex-Ariel man and extremely talented engine designer had joined Triumph in 1932 and had set about designing a brand new range of bikes, including a whole host of varying capacity OHV and side-valve singles (that shared many common parts) and a 650cc OHV vertical twin.

The 1911 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races took place for the first time over the "Snaefell Mountain Course".
The whole organisation of the races was given over to the Auto Cycle Union (ACU), who announced the use of the longer mountain course with a four lap (150 mile) Junior race on Friday 30th June and a five lap (189 mile) race for the Senior race on Monday 3rd July.
Grandstands were built by the Douglas Corporation in what had been popular and free vantage points in Douglas to the displeasure of the public.

But today I came across Radio TT on the web, it the TT's version of Radio Toca/Le Mans and I listen to commentry on the F1 race very interesting stuff.
The TT is also one of the oldest surviving motorsports events in the world as it was first held in 1907 - although the current 'Mountain Circuit', which runs for more than 37 miles and passes through two towns and over one mountain, wasn't used until 1911.
Joey Dunlop won more TTs but, great rider though he was, it is unlikely that he could have ever won a full GP against the best riders in the world.

A special note about the TT is that the late rally driver Tony Pond drove a standard production Rover 827 Vitesse during his second bid to be the first person to lap the Isle of Man TT circuit at over 100 mph in a four wheeled vehicle.
This meant a useful weight-saving – particularly effective on the 1000 feet climb from sea-level to the highest point on the circuit – but would require Tony to have perfect memory and knowledge of the TT course's 100+ bends in order to break the record.
