		The newspapers had no separate reviews concerning the incidental music, but in his review of the play Eino Leino commented dryly that some of the tableaux had retreated "further and further from the scope of artistic criticism".
		According to the composer, the premiere was a "fiasco", since the music was inaudible due to the way the theatre and production was set up.

		Russolo's instruments have long since been destroyed, and his music can now only be heard in rare reconstructions, but his importance lies more in his ideas than in the tiny influence that he actually had on other composers and musicians.

		A brief history of the use of musical instruments in liturgical settings, this essay from the 1911 edition of The Catholic Encyclopedia, offers a fascinating interpretation of official policy toward organs and other instruments in the Divine Liturgy.
		The treatise appears to be an apologia for the a document by Pope Pius X in 1903, "Motu proprio," which appears to be a reaction against florid, multi-movement settings of the Mass and canticles by J. Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, and other "secular" composers.
