The postcards were dropped after this election, and from the 1940 election until 1982 (when postcards were reintroduced), voters were sent a copy of the list showing the name, address, and occupation of all voters in the relevant poll.
A significant innovation of the 1920 elections act was the provision for voting in advance of election day by specified groups of voters: commercial travellers, railwaymen, and sailors could vote during the three days (excluding Sundays) preceding an election.

Because the school board posted the notice of the election held on the 15th day of August, we do not think it can be said that a different board called the election than the one provided by statute.
The school election which was held was an election which the excise board directed to be held, and while irregular for the reason that the same was held on a day other than the day fixed by the excise board, was not for that reason alone void.

Not until the 1988 election was this quintet—Social Democrats, Communists, Moderates (Conservatives), Liberals and Centrists—joined by a newcomer in the form of the Green Party, which in turn paved the way for two new parties, the Christian Democrats and New Democracy, in the 1991 election.
As elections are held simultaneously (since 1994, every four years) to Parliament, county councils and municipal councils, election campaigns are national affairs and this makes it difficult for small, local parties with nationwide ambitions to catch the attention of the media.
