  Archaeology and Sports History
Archaeology is based generally on the idea that there are ancient remains of human activity to be studied and published to the aim of world history.
It is obvious that archaeology and history should have a very closed relation, and a big interest is to be established between archaeologists and historians, because the archaeologist also needs the historian to develop his information and draw a certain philosophy of history.
Archaeology is a field of interest to sport historians, especially those who have no texts in hand.

Today, the Department of Archaeology is organised in eight chairs: for the Archaeology of Palaeolithic and Mesolithic, for the Archaeology of Neolithic and Eneolithic, for the Archaeology of Bronze and Iron Ages, for Classical Archaeology, for Roman archaeology, for Early Medieval Archaeology, for the Archaeology of Later Periods and for Archaeological Theory and Methodology.

This required a formal arrangement and The Museum of Indian Archaeology and Pioneer Life with Amos Jury as an Honorary Curator and Wilfrid Jury as a Curator originates from this period.

The scores of the four games previously recovered from this event, those of the new world champion’s play against Stearns, Wolfe, Tozer, and Judson, apparently were found in the December 17th, 24th, and 31st issues of the paper.
One reason whoever found the first four games missed the fifth was, no doubt, because with the third column concerning the exhibition, the chess column had published all three wins by the local players, as well as the one draw (against thirty-nine victories for Capablanca).
No doubt whoever was looking for Capablanca games originally felt it unnecessary to examine the January 1923 roll of Cleveland Plain Dealer microfilm, as all the games of local “interest” were already accounted for, and weeks had passed by since the December 12, 1922, exhibition had taken place.
