Finally, in 1928 at another meeting conducted at the Amsterdam Olympics, Delaunay's resolution was passed by FIFA and it began making plans to immediately organize soccer's first world championship, and the World Cup was born.
FIFA knew that it wanted to stage the tournament in 1930, but talks dragged on and soccer's governing body had trouble finding a nation that had the finances and resources to host the competition.

 Heritage Sports Collectibles
Heritage Auction Galleries held its latest Sports Collectibles Signature Auction on Friday and Saturday, October 26th and 27th, 2007, in Dallas, Texas.
The auction realized $2,752,208 for 966 lots, although after-auction sales are still ongoing and could push the total even higher.
"Usually it's baseball that gets all the glory in sports collectibles auctions," explained Chris Ivy, Director of Sports Collectibles Auctions for Heritage Auction Galleries, "but this event saw some major challengers from beyond the diamond.
