Grand Prix motor racing came to Monaco in 1929 when the first Grand Prix of Monaco automobile race was held.
The Monaco Grand Prix, held there annually, was first organized by Antony Noghes, a well-to-do cigarette manufacturer and a resident of Monte Carlo, under the auspices of Prince Louis II through the establishing of the "Automobile Club de Monaco" of which Noghes was the founding president.
The Monaco Grand Prix was one of the inaugural races in the Formula One championship in 1950.

The first Donington Grand Prix was held in 1935, attended by most of the days top British drivers, and won by Dick Shuttleworth in a P3 Alfa Romeo.
The growth of Grand Prix into a world wide commercial entity during the 1980's put paid to Brands Hatch as a Grand Prix circuit; with only limited funds available to develop a circuit to the standard required, the powers that be chose Silverstone, and Brands was relegated to second string events.
Little did the Motor Racing public know that in two years time this country would be at war with their guests at Donington, and the Mercedes Benz and Auto Union teams were welcomed enthusiastically to the circuit that in 1937.

 ERA cars
In 1937 Charlie Martin successfully campaigned the car across Europe including a fine win in the Voiturette event supporting the German Grand Prix at Avus.
After a year of good results with ERA, Seaman ran a Delage 1.5 in 1936 and was a Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix driver by 1937.
Cousin Geoffrey E.Ansell also drove R9B including a major crash in the 1948 British Grand Prix.

 Donington Grand Prix / Formula 1 Collection
The Grand Prix collection is heavy in British cars and lacks a representative sampling of Ferraris.
The 1936 race garnered a much larger field and in 1937 the Grand Prix was granted full international status.
The museum is definitely worth a special trip for the Grand Prix enthusiasts who realize that there was a world that existed before Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill.

 Raymond Sommer
He signed by BRM for the marque's infamous debut at the 1950 British Grand Prix where the car failed to move from the grid.
In 1937 Raymond raced for Ferrari and competed in France with a Talbot sports car, winning the Marseilles Three Hours at Miramas and the Grand Prix de Tunisie and becoming French Champion.
Only a fortnight later, in September, Raymond Sommer became the first fatality in a Cooper when the steering failed on the 1,100cc Mk IV he had borrowed from Harry Schell for the Haute Garonne Grand Prix at Cadours.

 Donington Park Racing Association Club
The Donington Park Racing Association Club was formed in 1973 to support Tom Wheatcroft's campaign to bring back motor racing to Britain's first road racing circuit, Donington Park, which had been host to the famous 1937 and 1938 Grand Prix events.
The saviour of Donington Park's historic circuit, the creator of the world's largest collection of classic grand prix racing cars and an enthusiastic and successful private entrant in his time, Tom's enormous contribution to the sport over so many years has been acknowledged recently with a string of honours and lifetime achievement awards.
Top car action comes with the British GT and F3 on May 20th/21st, BTCC July 29th/30th and the GB round of the LeMans Endurance race Series for Sports Cars on August 26th/27th.

Chiron had retired from GP racing so the new driver lineup was Rudolf Caracciola, Manfred von Brauchitsch and Hermann Lang as drivers with British driver Richard Seaman and Swiss Christian Kautz as junior drivers and Italian Goffredo Zehender as reserve.
Fagioli was the one who had to give up when a rear wheel lost its tread.
Fagioli was dragged away before he could continue the attack.
