During the last 117 years, Port Melbourne has won the most premierships (15), played in the most Grand Finals (33) as well as contesting the most VFA / VFL finals series.
In 1886, the Club was admitted to the Victorian Football Association (now the Victorian Football League) making it one of the oldest and most famous football Clubs in Australia.

Club captain in 1954 and 1955 (his last season), Treasure's "relaxed style earned him the humorous-affectionate nickname of 'Loafer', but many opponents found to their cost that his sometimes leisurely attitude cloaked a precision of movement" (see footnote 1).
His final season in league football came at Melbourne in 1932, bringing his final tally of VFL games to 104 in 9 seasons.
Recruited by Melbourne from Ballarat when he was already twenty-five years of age, Geoff Tunbridge played his entire six season, 117 game, 128 goal VFL career as an amateur.

Geelong recruited him from Barooga in the Picola and District Football League, and he made his VFL debut in 1981 before going on to play 94 games and kick 35 goals in five seasons.

Stuart Spencer was twenty-five years old when he arrived at Clarence, a veteran of 122 VFL games with Melbourne including participation in the 1955 and 1956 premiership sides.
Peter Sumich began and ended his senior career with South Fremantle, but it is for the intervening nine seasons and 150 V/AFL games at West Coast that he is best remembered.
Much of his career coincided with that of the legendary John Coleman, but his high status at the time is evidenced by the regularity with which he was selected to represent the VFL.

In the VFL’s first season of 1897 the destiny of the flag had been determined by a round robin series between the sides occupying the top 4 positions at the end of the home and away rounds.
333 by Kevin Murray 1955 to 1964 and 1967 to 1974
Fitzroy still had one further fixture commitment to fulfill: a trip to Adelaide to contest the premiership of Australia.
