In 1932 the circuit hosted the French Grand Prix for the first time and this was won by the Alfa Romeo of Tazio Nuvolari.

For the first time in the World Championship series the German Grand Prix was staged on the somewhat unusual circuit of AVUS.
The race was run over two heats - both 155 miles in length, and although the Coopers often ran alongside the high-powered Ferraris at close to 180 mph it was the Italian cars that finished up as eventual winners of both heats, claiming all three spots on the podium.
