—(1) A person appointed in relation to the Dáil election under section 22 of the Prevention of Electoral Abuses Act, 1923, as a personation agent may attend at the polling station to which he was appointed notwithstanding that that station is also used for the purposes of any of the local elections.
(3) A person appointed in relation to the Dáil election under Rule 29 of the Rules contained in the Fifth Schedule to the Electoral Act, 1923, as an agent to attend the counting of the votes may attend the counting of the votes at the local elections.
(5) A person appointed in relation to the Dáil election under section 30 of the Prevention of Electoral Abuses Act, 1923, as a sub-agent may attend at any polling station used at the Dáil election notwithstanding that that station is also used for the purposes of any of the local elections.

Allwright, Election Judge, 321 U.S. 649 (1944): In this case, the Court upheld a resolution adopted by the Texas Democratic Party at its state convention that restricted membership in the party and participation in its deliberations to white citizens of Texas.
In 1960, the Mississippi Constitution was amended to require “good moral character” as a qualification for voting, and in 1962 the Mississippi Legislature passed a series of provisions to stop fl voter registration.
Under Mississippi statute, to be a qualified elector for all municipal elections, a resident was required to register with the municipal clerk after having registered at the office of the county registrar.

 Dáil Éireann - Volume 181 - 11 May, 1960 - Elections Bill, 1960—Second Stage.
The Bill is designed to meet the suggestion that to facilitate electors and, incidentally, to achieve some economies, the by-election due in the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency should be held on the same day as the local elections in the Counties of Carlow and Kilkenny and the County Borough of Waterford.
The purpose of Section 13 is to enable an agent or candidate at the Dáil election to be present as a matter of right at a polling station or at a count at the local elections and vice versa.
He will also appoint the counting staff for the by-election count, whereas the staff for the local election counts will be appointed by the county secretaries or, in the case of urbans, possibly by town clerks.

This study analyzes the relationship between religion and political behavior in recent presidential elections in the United States.
The single factor behind this decline is the reduction in support for Republican candidates among denominationally liberal Protestants, whose changing voting behavior is a function of their increasingly liberal views of social issues.
The political alignments of Catholics and conservative Protestants have been very stable relative to the electorate-wide mean over this time period, and the authors find no evidence of increased political mobilization among conservative Protestants.

In a report to the council on Wednesday, he also recommended a major increase to the 300-strong UN international police force — adding about 900 police officers to train police and help build effective policing operations at the national and local level.
The DRC's transitional government was supposed to hold elections on June 30 as part of a peace plan that ended a five-year war.
Annan noted the elections will be the first national vote in the DRC since 1965 and will involve a number of "formidable challenges" including reaching all eligible voters in a country the size of Europe with virtually no roads.

The Reagan camp was fearful of an "October Surprise" whereby the hostages would be released shortly before the November elections, giving Carter a big boost and the election.
The reason is that it's easier to manipulate the election results with punch cards than it would be with polling centers which have voting machines where you pull a lever (as I had in backwater Arkansas back in 1980) or any truly computerized or better mechanical interface with the voter.

The domestic program of the Eisenhower adminstration was moderately conservative, and in foreign policy the internationalist approach of the previous Democratic administration was continued.
However, the Democrats retained control of Congress through the 1960 elections.
