In the 1916-17 NHA season, there were six teams that comprised the NHA: the Montreal Canadiens, the Montreal Wanderers, the Ottawa Senators, the Quebec Bulldogs, the Toronto Blueshirts, and an army team from the 228th Battalion, stationed in Toronto.
Among one of the conflicts, and indeed, the one conflict that formed the NHL, was one of Edward J. Livingstone, owner of the Blueshirts.
In 1926, the NHL was left without competing leagues to vie for the Stanley Cup, due to its higher player salaries that other leagues were unable to match.

Each season has its own page, where you will find the league standings for the season, playoff results, individual player stats, uniform numbers, draft picks, and a listing of award winners and all-stars.
Some seasons are incomplete, especially in the areas of uniform numbers and playoff statistics.
This is due to one of two reasons - either I don't have the stats for them, or the player was traded during the season and the "official" stats do not differentiate between the two teams.
