Japanese architecture. The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition. 2001-05
Evidence of prehistoric architecture in Japan has survived in the form of models of terra-cotta houses buried in tombs and by remains of pit houses of the Jomon, the neolithic people of Japan.
These buildings illustrate the first epoch of Japanese architecture (6th–8th cent.), which was characterized by gravity, frankness of construction, and simple, vital compositions, sparsely ornamented.
As in Greek and Chinese architecture, little use is made of diagonal members, and the framing is almost exclusively a system of uprights and horizontals.

 83.01.10: Architectural Differences in Design
Architectural drawing is usually offered as an elected course of their choice.
The style is the expression, the characteristic manner of design, which prevails at a given time and place; it is an expression of the housing needs, taste, and wealth of the community; it is not the result of accident, but rather an evolution of the intellectual, moral, social, and even political conditions of the time.
There are other considerations such as the architectural effect produced and the feeling of roominess, freedom from crowding of space, and so on, which may offset some sacrifice of economy and efficiency.

In architecture, the demand was no longer for box-like forms, but for buildings that have something to say to the human emotions.
I believe the development of a new architectural style will result from further study and work on the three elements that I have discussed: human, emotional, and sensual elements; technologically intelligent elements; and social-communicational structure of the space.

Hierarchy and History in Simon's "Architecture of Complexity"
In an epochal 1962 paper entitled "The Architecture of Complexity", Simon attempted to draw together what he had learned about the structure of complex systems [4].
Modular industrial products are sometimes designed as complete architectures, and sometimes designed with standardized interfaces that invite others to introduce complementary products, but rarely are free-standing, independently designed products assembled post hoc into modular systems [12].
The year that he wrote "The Architecture of Complexity" (1962) might be seen in retrospect as the high-water mark of the classical hierarchical organization.

As for the whatever architecturism u refer to...enclosing 'cloning' within it as a chapter is whimsical..and it 'assumes' (since 'assume' is the word of the day) that there is a constant of cultural signification across distant times and places...that marks a continuity between the cloning chapter and the others.

It is a very readable overview of modern architecture, beginning with the late 18th century and 19th century predecessors which led to a thorough re-examination of architecture in the early 20th century.
Kenneth Frampton's history of modern architecture is a terrific and scholarly book, highlighting all the important architects and styles of this century.

This book introduces you to architecture...it's really enlightening especially to those who think that architecture is putting a couple of bricks together to come up with a building, `cause architecture is more than that, it's more or less like a way of living...

Hines assesses the impact of the built environment on Faulkner's consciousness and shows how the architecture of the writer's fictional county of Yoknapatawpha reflects the actual architecture of Oxford, Mississippi, and neighboring areas.
Arguing that nature and architecture are of equal importance in Faulkner's cosmos, Hines examines the writer's use of architectural modes--primitive, classical, gothic, and modern--to demarcate caste and class, to convey mood and ambience, and to delineate character.
Hines's gifts as an architectural historian and photographer and his intimate knowledge of Faulkner country are evident throughout this handsome book.

If, with the opening of the Seagram Building in 1957, western architecture once again achieved an international unity that had eluded it for two hundred years, that unity was short-lived.

The Minoans were conquered by the Mycenaeans of mainland Greece, whose architecture was subsequently strongly influenced by Cretan prototypes.
This early Greek architecture (3000-700 BC) is characterized by the use of massive stone blocks for walls and by the occasional use of corbeled masonry to make primitive forms of vaults and domes, as in the Lion Gate and so-called Treasury of Atreus at MYCENAE (1400-1200 BC).
It was, however, the column and the beam--POST AND LINTEL--that formed the basis of classical Greek architecture and that give it the simple, straightforward character that, together with its details, has led many scholars to speculate on its origins in the construction of primitive wooden huts.
