In baseball, the World Series is the championship series of the North American Major League Baseball, played between the American League and National League champions, after the end of the regular season in October.
The 1904 Series[?] was supposed to be between the AL's Boston Pilgrims and the NL's New York Giants.
The Cleveland Indians ruined a possible all-Boston World Series by defeating the Boston Red Sox in a playoff after the two top American League teams were tied at the end of the season.

On October 10, 1964, Mickey Mantle led off the ninth (9th) inning with a right field game winning blast that landed in the upper deck and broke the record set by the Bambino thirty-two (32) years earlier.

For the Cardinals, this was their first appearance in the Fall Classic since they won the 1946 World Series over the Red Sox on Enos Slaughter's "Mad Dash." The Yankees, on the other hand, were old hands at October baseball, appearing in their fifth straight Series and fifteenth since that Cards' victory in 1946.
In the ninth inning, Ken's brother Clete Boyer hit a solo shot for the Yankees and Phil Linz followed with a solo shot of his own, but it was too little, too late as Gibson retired Bobby Richardson on a pop to Dal Maxvill for the final out, and made the Cardinals champions once again.
The Series was the last hurrah for the Mantle-era Yankees who fell out of contention for the next decade.
