Although the resolution foresees completion of the first spacecraft during 1964, and first flights in 1965-1966, there is not one word on training of cosmonauts for such missions.
The first is to be completed by 15 June 1964; the second by 30 June; the third and fourth, in July.
Although the orbital parameters and supplies aboard the spacecraft are good for three days of flight, it is decided to bring the cosmonauts down according to plan, at the beginning of the 17th orbit, after one day of flight.

 Cleve F. Shaffer
A score of the "early birds" who pioneered aviation in this nation were honored at San Francisco's commemoration of the 50th anniversary of California aviation.
Cleve T. Shaffer was honored for a balloon flight here on Dec. 23, 1907, an aircraft flight in 1930, for the operation of an airplane factory here, 1910-11, for the founding of the first Aero Club in 1910 and for co-founding the first national air reserve in 1910.
He was recognized by "Janes Airships", the authoritative British journal, as the leading aviation figure in the United states in 1911.

Right after that, U.S. Aviation resources were assigned on an operational basis, which to say the least, was a major problem.

The 14th Aviation Battalion was constituted on 2 Sept 1964, in the Regular Army as Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 14th Aviation Battalion and was activated on 3 Sept 1964, (1) at Ft Benning, Georgia.
On 6 Jan 1968, the 14th Combat Aviation Battalion was reassigned from the 17th Combat Group to the 16th Combat Aviation Group.(5) During this period the 161st AHC was released from the 14th Battalion and became A Co. 123rd, the nucleus of the 123rd Combat Aviation Battalion.

HORACE B. Here's a nice picture of a real he-man birdman, Horace Tuttle of Cleveland, whose interest in aviation is still keen and who is always on the lookout for us to uncover interesting material for the BEAM.
Horace, who first flew in Georgia in 1916, is shown in a CAP uniform of a few years ago, and we thought his many friends would liek to see him all pirmed and ready for flight.
When his health began to fail, he went to Palm springs, California, where he died on November 11, 1964.

During the nine years in Vietnam, the 114th Assault Helicopter Company (AHC) participated in 16 combat campaigns and was presented with 8 unit citations.
After departing the Republic of South Vietnam in February 1972, the 114th Aviation Company was assigned to the Panama Canal Zone where it served with distinction.
The 114th was deactivated at Fort Clayton, Panama Canal Zone in October 1987.
