		27 year old Dan Wheldon became the first British driver since Graham Hill in (1966) to win the Indy 500.
		Already a three-time winner this season, Indy Racing League championship leader Dan Wheldon prevailed in a Honda-powered "shootout" including a half-dozen drivers over the final 15 laps to win the 89th running of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, becoming the first English driver to do so since Graham Hill in 1966.
		Patrick displayed a great deal of grit and talent, leading a total of 19 laps and surviving a pair of "rookie" mistakes (a stall during a pit stop and a spin that triggered a multi-car accident on Lap 155) to finish fourth, the best of six rookies in the 2005 field.

		INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Rodger Ward died Monday at a hospice in Anaheim, Calif., the Indianapolis Motor Speedway said.
		Ward was second to A.J. Foyt in 1964, failed to qualify in 1965 and drove for the 15th and final time in 1966, finishing 15th.
		He won in 1959 and 1962, during a six-year span in which he finished no worse than fourth.
