 About The Audi TT
The Tourist Trophy remained on the Isle of Man until 1922, after which events were held in Ards, Donington, Dundrod, Silverstone and on other circuits.
However, it was the sheer difficulty of the Isle of Man road circuit and the notable personalities from automobile history who took part - the race was won in 1906 by C. Rolls driving his own Rolls Royce - that soon made the Tourist Trophy the motor-sport legend that it is today.
Developed from the standard TT model for competition use, the NSU TTS had a 1000 cc engine with a power output of up to 85 bhp, and played a leading part in its class on the motor-sport scene.

Over the course of a remarkable career of 17 years, the peerless Agostini won 15 world Grand Prix titles (8 in 500cc and 7 in 350cc), 12 Isle of Man TT crowns, an astonishing 122 Grands Prix, and he rarely ever fell off his machine during all those years.
He became motorcycling's first genuine world superstar and, whether riding a 350cc or 500cc, he was nearly always the man to beat whenever he took up his position on the starting grid.
Honda's departure from the scene in 1967 heralded eight years of dominance by Agostini and MV Augusta in the world championships.

The Isle of Man TT races, due to take place from May 26 to June 8, have in the past attracted up to 40,000 motorbike enthusiasts and are worth between £5m and £7m to the island's economy.
A programme of extra precautions was put forward by the Department of Trade and Tourism, but the council of ministers decided that the races would constitute a significant risk to animal health and the agricultural industry.
Although the island is still welcoming tourists, the TT races were a particular threat because of the number of spectators on farmland and lanes.
