India’s initial report (CRC/C/28/Add.10) is pending for consideration at the Committee’s May 1999 session; the second periodic report is due 10 January 2000.
India is among the countries that have received communications from the Special Rapporteur (SR) concerning cases of extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions.
The SR states that the situation in India in terms of tolerance and non-discrimination based on religion is generally satisfactory and acknowledges that India is committed to democracy, democratic institutions, legislative and government measures to promote tolerance, a concept of secularism based on equality of religions and “unity in diversity”.

India's Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) announced in September 2002 that the naval variant of the Prithvi (Dhanush) has completed sea trials and is ready for "induction." Five tests of different versions of the intermediate-range Agni ballistic missile were conducted between May 1989 and January 2001.
India is not a member of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR); in November 2002, it rejected a draft of the International Code of Conduct (ICOC) on ballistic missile proliferation on grounds that it is discriminatory and interferes with the peaceful uses of space technology.

The lecture took place on November 14 [1968], at the Queen Elizabeth College, London, by courtesy of Professor John Yudkin, and had been organised by the V.N.R.C. with the support of S.C.I.V.U. The meeting was presided over by the Centre's Research Director, Dr. Frank Wokes.
Alan Long thanked the speaker for a most informative and first-hand account, and complimented her for her outstanding ability not only to cope with the scientific problems of food, but also the very human problems which arise when new ideas are being introduced, and for which her training as a psychologist had proved invaluable.
It was invigorating to have heard a direct account of her contribution towards a realistic solution of a very pressing problem, and encouraging to note that the Government of India were recognising the importance of her work.

India works toward negotiating a Fissile Material Cutoff Treaty (FMCT) with the United States banning the production of fissile material for weapons purposes.India agrees to prevent the spread of enrichment and reprocessing technologies to states that don't possess them and to support international nonproliferation efforts.
Proponents of the agreement argue it will bring India closer to the United States at a time when the two countries are forging a strategic relationship to pursue their common interests in fighting terrorism, spreading democracy, and preventing the domination of Asia by any single power.
India has thus far chosen to abide by the strict export controls on nuclear technology set by the NSG, a group of forty-five nuclear-supplier states that voluntarily coordinates controls of nuclear exports to non-nuclear-weapon states.

India decides to develop a family of sounding rockets with diameters ranging from 125mm-560mm with the capability of carrying 10-100kg-payloads to heights ranging from 80-350km.
The location of the island on India's east coast and its closeness to the equator (Sriharikota is 13° north of the equator) are cited as some of its key advantages.

On October 31, 1964, the Government of India accepted the resignation of the appellant and requested the Chief Secretary to the Government of Rajasthan "to intimate the date on which the appellant was relieved of his duties so that a formal notification could be issued in that behalf".
The High Court rejected the petition holding that the resignation became effective on the date on which it was accepted by the Government of India, and a subsequent withdrawal of the resignation was ineffective, even if acceptance of the resignation was not intimated to the appellant.
The order complained of did not purport to be one of dismissal : the Government of India accepted the resignation submitted by the appellant, they did not purport to terminate the appointment for any misconduct on the part of the appellant, or as a measure of penalty.
