Which was probably why the Mavs managed to avoid being lumped in with the 76ers for the worst season record in NBA history.
They began the season with 15 straight losses, and also recorded losing streaks of 20, 14, and finally 13 to end the season.
The team went bankrupt, was taken over by the NL after the season, and was renamed the Boston Bees.

Both men must find it particularly ironic today that one year after playing on a team that won 33 in a row and 69 overall, they were members of arguably the worst team in NBA history, the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers.
When the Los Angeles Lakers went into Miami a couple of nights ago, they were gunning for their 12th consecutive victory, which would have moved them within three wins of tying the NBA record for most victories in a row to start a season.
It is newsworthy any time an NBA team puts together a streak that reaches double digits, and these Lakers certainly seem capable of fashioning additional double-digit winning streaks, particularly when O'Neal returns to the lineup.
