 Legends of the Buffalo Sabres - Ron Busniuk
Unable to gain a roster spot during the 1973-74 season, Busniuk was among the players left unprotected by the Sabres in the 1974 Intra-League (waiver) Draft.
Busniuk spent the bulk of the 1973-74 season in Cincinnati, scoring 7 goals and 24 assists and again leading the team with 146 penalty minutes in 68 games played.
Near the end of the 1975-76 season, Busniuk was traded to the New England Whalers.

Attendance was steady, as the city embraced its new club, averaging 6,080 for the 1974-1975 season at the Sports Arena.
Acceptance of the franchise depended on Breitbard's construction of a suitable arena in San Diego.

The offense sputtered for 1973-74, as Cleveland dropped to third in the eastern Division, bowing in the playoffs to the Toronto Toros.
(Incidentally, the Barons were the name of Cleveland's short-lived NHL franchise.) The agreement was that the Crusaders, granted in June 1972, would be operational by the start of the 1972-73 season.

The WHA had originally announced a franchise for "Ontario", and there was some expectation that Hamilton would be the team's home, but the franchise was eventually placed in Ottawa.
Their home ice was the Ottawa Civic Center, but continuing financial disagreements with the arena's operators resulted in the Nationals moving their playoff games to Toronto.
