  Home Video
These formats had been developed with home video in mind, and although they were either too crude, complex, cumbersome or costly to catch on with consumers, both were successes in educational and industrial markets, allowing Sony to continue development work.
What home video has enabled is the phenomenon of "cocooning," the ability to participate in cultural consumption without going out in public.
In all, the history of home video indicates that technology does not so much change society as better enable people to pursue their existing interests, be it the few who experiment with media alternatives, or the many who seek Hollywood thrills and romance from the comfort of their living room sofas.

 MSN Encarta - Peter Gabriel
Under that name—with Gabriel, outrageously costumed, as its singer and chief songwriter—the group became a leader in art rock, a style of rock music distinguished by its theatrical and musically complex songs.
Genesis proved to be a springboard for the solo careers of several of the band's members, including bassist Mike Rutherford and drummer Phil Collins, who took over as lead vocalist after Gabriel left the band in 1975.
It included the song “Sledgehammer,” a melding of rhythm-and-blues (R&B) and other rock-music styles which was accompanied by an innovative music video that used an animation technique known as claymation.

To celebrate the movie’s 25th Anniversary this year, Universal Home Video is now bringing the most terrifying shark ever to swim onto your screen in a newly restored version on this DVD to make sure you will never forget what this phenomenon, and DVD is all about.
Universal Home Video is presenting the movie here in a newly remastered, anamorphic widescreen transfer that restores the film’s original 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
It seems obvious that recording technologies for recording orchestral music scores were much more sophisticated in 1975 than the technology used to record dialogue on the set.

For the record, there are approximately eleven minutes of previously cut footage woven into the whole, the bulk of which involve an early psychiatric examination of Regan and Chris’ discussion of it with her doctor (who prescribes the then-unkown Ritalin).
The new DVD and tape editions from Kino on Video is spotless, restoring approximately 18 minutes of footage cut for the film’s initial American release (this version now runs a full two hours).
Along the way there are thousands of film and video clips, interviews with various critics, writers and and performers (with Wynton Marsalis the most prominent and unabashedly enthusiastic) and, of course, the music: excerpts from 497 separate pieces, from the 1920s Jazz Age through big band to post-World War II bebop and even 1970s fusion.

 History of Home Video Games
Hand-held video games and home computers are not discussed, although they are an interesting subject.
Cheap home computers started to gain market from video games in the beginning of the 80's and it took too much time before quality game titles were developed to Atari 5200.
The price of a single home video game has usually been much higher than the price of single computer game, despite the manufacturing costs for about the same, practically neglible.

 Airport 1975
I purchased Airport 1975 because this is an enjoyable film with a high tension rescue and excellant special effects.
AIRPORT 75 must have the least believable premise of any major Hollywood release that wasn't straight science fiction: a small private plane crashes into the cockpit of a giant 747 en route to Salt Lake City, and all the flight crew members are either killed outright or incapacitated as a result.
The ante is upped for "Airport 1975" when a small airplane hits the flight deck of a 747, killing or incapacitating the flight crew and leaving it to Nancy the stewardess to take the controls.

 JACKSON v. MPI HOME VIDEO, 694 F. Supp. 483 (N.D. Ill. 1988)
Shortly thereafter defendants began marketing a tape for home video use containing the complete A.B.C. news coverage of the convention speech given by Jackson.
There is no evidence as to the time span of the market for their videos although it is reasonable to assume that the end of the 1988 presidential election campaign may signal the end of the market for the tape.
Defendants originally argued that the plaintiffs receipt of federal funds precluded copyright of his speech on 17 U.S.C. This position is not argued in the latest brief and appears untenable.

Another reviewer´s references to "tire ovals" and "stick people" is a bit of an exaggeration, but you´ll wonder why the plane is so short and stubby and why the airport´s pickup trucks look as if they have 4´ beds.

There were, on the other hand, several films produced during the decade that were specifically designed to make a killing at the box office, and one of the best was "Shampoo" (1975), a film that, aside from being a huge moneymaker, was also something of a personal triumph for its star, Warren Beatty.
Released in 1975, and one of the leading members of what are now being called "70s films," _Shampoo_ is the story of George Roundy, hairdresser in beautiful and sun-blessed City of Angels.

If you are a Kubrick lover, Lyndon may still be one of the director's least rewarding film experiences, and if you are a Kubrick hater, this will only reinforce the perception of Kubrick as a intellectual, technically proficient craftsman more interested in surfaces than in people.
When films are "letterboxed" in a non-anamorphic widescreen presentation, active lines of video resolution are essentially thrown away as they're used to reproduce fl bars instead of video image.
This would not have been the case had Warner (and the powers that be from the Kubrick Estate) opted for a 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer for Barry Lyndon, with fl bars "window-boxed" on the sides of the image to create the intended 1.66:1 aspect ratio.
