Which was probably why the Mavs managed to avoid being lumped in with the 76ers for the worst season record in NBA history.
Although some hockey fans started to call the team "Lose-ipeg," most hometown rooters were behind the club, even as the team eclipsed the futility of the 1975-76 Kansas City Scouts, who went 27 games without a win.
They began the season with 15 straight losses, and also recorded losing streaks of 20, 14, and finally 13 to end the season.

In 1975-76, Quebec cracks the 100-point mark for the only time in the WHA but falls to the Calgary Cowboys in the playoffs, due in no small part to a violent hit on Tardif by Calgary's Rick Jodzio, knocking him out of the series.
By the 1977-78 season, the WHA was clearly in trouble and the turmoil seemed to have affected the Nords play.
Almost as an afterthought, the team was sold to a group of Quebec City investors for $215,000 before the innagural 1972-73 WHA season.

Lengths of Hockey Players' Careers Through the Ages
Nowadays, the NHL has more teams than the NHL and WHA combined did during most of the 1970's (1974-75 and 1975-76 being the exceptions), and once again the demand for hockey players surpasses the supply, so we once again are seeing the return of players who have played for 20 or more seasons.
The average number of players who played a full season in their first NHL season in the first 11 years is about 7.8, whereas for the last 10 years it's only 4.4.
I decided to look at the 1999-00 season, which is recent enough that the results I get have a hope of being relevant today, but long enough ago that it's likely (but certainly not certain) that people who haven't played in the NHL since then won't be playing in the NHL in the future either.
