The topic of my talk today is "invisible writing in contemporary Chinese literature." The concept of contemporary Chinese literature refers to a relatively long historical period, and the time from 1949 to 1976 is only a special segment of it.
Since the Chinese communists established their power nationwide in China in 1949, under the rule of Mao Zedong, there were many campaigns of criticism and condemnation in the area of politics and culture, and many intellectuals were deprived of the right to write.
In the field of literature and arts, the number of intellectuals condemned as "the Rightist" is much greater than that involved in the case of Hu Feng, but from the perspective of "invisible writing," the number of good works by the Rightist intellectuals is much smaller.

The folk literature of the past, which was once consumed by adults, is now the standard fare of basal texts and children's literary classics.
Developmental models extracted from traditional literatures by these theorists suggested to many educators, at the time, that stories were important teaching tools and that children would benefit from exposure folk tales.
Traditional literatures from a wide variety of cultural contexts have also been found useful in the growth of imagination (Rosenblatt, 1976; Gallas, 1994), morality (Coles, 1989; Zipes, 1997) and self-identity (Chinen, 1996).

As a philosophy it is a protest against the determinism that must make man unaccountable for his actions as well as inert or hostile to life, since it prevents him from feeling, choosing and acting himself.
It is there that the value and dignity of life and mankind have their sole haven, ever storm-lashed, and it is from that stillness that Saul Bellow's work, borne on the whirlwind of disquiet, derives its inspiration and strength.
