Nat' Academies Press, Aviation Weather Services: A Call For Federal Leadership and Action (1995)
As a result, the setting of aviation weather priorities for operational services and related research would remain fragmented among and within federal agencies and their respective congressional committees.
Establishing a separate aviation weather agency also shares many of the disadvantages associated with increasing the concentration of aviation weather within the FAA or NWS (alternatives 3 and 4, respectively).
The utility of aviation weather services and systems is a strong function of the extent to which they satisfy user needs.

In January 1976, he applied to the Controller of Civil Aviation for a first class airline transport pilot’s licence, and was asked pursuant to the Civil Aviation Regulations to undergo a medical examination.
The appellant then requested the Controller of Civil Aviation to reconsider his earlier decision, but it was refused and the appellant then appealed to the National Court purportedly under s.
However, acting on the report of the panel and the opinion of Lieut-Colonel R. Jeffrey, formerly the Superintendent of Aviation Medicine in the Department of Health, that the appellant suffered from deuteranopia permanently and to such degree that he did not meet the required standard, the Controller felt bound to refuse the licence.

FAA Aviation Noise Abatement Policy (4)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-06)
We believe passage of regulatory reform bill (the proposed Aviation Act of 1977) to be reintroduced by the Administration in early 1977 will help the airlines with their overall financing problem.
The principal aviation responsibilities assigned to the Federal Aviation Administrator, and since 1966 to the Secretary of Transportation, under the Federal Aviation Act of 1958, as amended, concern safety and the promotion of air commerce.
The purchasers of aircraft service -- the aviation passengers -are not necessarily the recipients of the aircraft noise, and therefore the provider of that service (the airline) does not have a normal market incentive to reduce noise.

The preproduction aircraft was first spotted by United States reconnaissance satellites in November of that year; it was dubbed Ram-L because the U.S. knew only that it was being built at the Zhukovsky flight test centre near the town of Ramenskoye.
Early western speculation suggested that the Ram-L would be very similar in appearance to the YF-17 Cobra and would be powered by afterburning Tumansky R-25 turbojets.

 43 Years of Aviation Ministry
It was Hank Scheltema's personal interest in aviation (he and his older brother taught themselves to fly) and vision for a gospel outreach to inaccessible areas that gave birth to ABWE's aviation ministry.
In those days, access to remote villages of the Amazon was conducted primarily by houseboat, and Hank successfully made a case for the cost-effectiveness of aviation.
A few years after Hank was appointed as ABWE's International Aviation Coordinator in 1977, ABWE was given property and an airstrip in Concord, Georgia, from which to coordinate aviation efforts around the ABWE world, and a place to refurbish aircraft for missionary pilots.
