  Britain.tv Wikipedia - Comics
Comics (or, less commonly, sequential art) is a form of visual art consisting of images which are commonly combined with text, often in the form of speech balloons or image captions.
The most common forms of printed comics are comic strips (most commonly four panels long) in newspapers and magazines, and longer comic stories in comic books, graphic novels and comic albums.
Whilst almost all comics art is in some sense abbreviated, and also whilst every artist who has produced comics work brings their own individual approach to bear, some broader art styles have been identified.

Prism Comics » Features » "Beginnings"
Comic books historically have not been particularly friendly to gay characters, especially when considering Marvel and DC, two of the largest and most legendary publishers of superhero comics.
When I first started collecting, comics were 15 cents (and candy bars were 5 cents) and as the ‘70s progressed, the prices slowly got higher and higher until 1977 when DC made the big leap to the Dollar Comic, a line which at first boasted 80 pages of all new material with no ads.
For as much as I love the idea and sight of the Dollar Comics, they really didn’t have enough good artists and writers, or simply weren’t willing to pay for the better ones, to generate all this extra material (to be fair, there was a lot of A+ plus material sprinkled throughout).

The stories were collected in a one-shot comic and as far as I know, never spoken of again.
There are, of course, more, but with several comics a month nearly every month for 16 years, that adds up pretty quick.
With all the comic stories in the past 29 years, it's going to be difficult to know which story is which, and which ones you may want to read next.

Don drew eight stories for DC in 1977 and his work only began showing up in July.

This was the year Don made it in the mainstream of comics.

The latest Following Cerebus (#6) has an interesting article about the comics world circa 1977 when Cerebus was starting up.
The piece discusses the state of the industry, the origin of the direct market, the (lack of) variety of books available, and comments from Bud Plant, Chuck Rozanski, and others.
There’s a picture of what would have been on the shelves at that time and discussion of the various small/indie published comics of the time, which were few.

ABOUT 2000 AD is the UK’s most successful science fiction comic and has been right on the cutting edge of popular culture since its creation in 1977.
The imagination in its stories and the astonishing array of top-quality art have earned the magazine a place in Britain’s cultural milieu, brought countless awards to the title, and secured the loyalty of a legion of fans over twenty-six unbroken years of weekly publication.
The comic has been a chance for the finest young writers and artists of two generations — and counting — to shine, launching the careers of top-name writers like Alan Moore and Garth Ennis, as well as artists including Steve Dillon, Simon Bisley and Dave Gibbons.

Over the years, my comic collection had grown steadily, and as it became necessary to organize and "groom" the monstrous mound of four-color pulp, I began to notice that I always wound up with a pile of funnybooks that defied categorization.
I wanted to promote these comics for their entertainment and historical interest, not to help set artificially-manipulated collector's prices, and I felt this new moniker would make my cheerfully lowbrow approach to the material even more obvious than ever.

Near Mint MINUS (nm-): Not quite as good as Near Mint with an additional defect or defects which detract from the comic’s appearance, still a super high grade.
