They got off to their best start (30-22) since 1978-79 and one of the main reasons was forward Antawn Jamison [20.8 points per game, 8.1 rebounds].
A starter for the Golden State Warriors from 1998-99 through 2002-03, Jamison won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award with the Dallas Mavericks in 2003-04 before shining again as a starter for the Wizards.

The Grizzlies are the third team for Fratello, who last coached in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1998-99 and has a career record of 592-499 in 13 seasons.
