The Australian Grand Prix is a Formula One race held at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit in Albert Park as part of the annual Formula One championship season.
Australian Grands Prix, not part of the World Championship but featuring F1 open-wheeler racing vehicles, were held at various circuits around Australia for many years.
The race was struck by tragedy in 2001, when a flying tyre from a crash between Ralf Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve flew through a gap in the barrier fence and killed a volunteer track marshal.

 Former F1 ace Regazzoni dies in car crash
The Swiss-born racer, who gave Williams their first Grand Prix victory at Silverstone in 1979 and won four races for Ferrari, was 67.
Police said Regazzoni, who was paralysed after breaking his back in a crash at the 1980 U.S. Grand Prix West in Long Beach, died when his car collided with a truck on a highway to the west of the Italian town of Parma.
Regazzoni's accident in 1980, when he suffered brake failure and hit the barriers at speed, ended his Formula One career at 132 grands prix.

From 1985 Selinger was officially allowed by the FIVB as a former Israelian international to play for the Dutch national team and from 1985-1992 he went on to play an incredible 387 international matches to be the fifth most capped Dutch player of all time.
As a member of the Dutch national team he won a silver medal at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and two bronze medals at the European Championships of 1989 and 1991.
At the end of 1992 Selinger retired as a Dutch international, although he continued playing at the Dutch Premier League club Alcom/Capelle, and it was four laters when he took his first step into coaching in Japan.

In 1976 it was Nivelles turn to organize the Grand Prix but the Belgian delegation from the FIA found the track not longer suitable for Formula 1 because the condition of the asphalt.
In 1980 the circuit was found unsuitable for every form om carracing but was used for motorcycles till the end of 1981.

Hopes of a Grand Prix swansong with McLaren in 1994, thanks to French engine supplier Peugeot, were disappointed when team boss Ron Denis chose Martin Brundle instead, even though Philippe had a run-out in place of the suspened Mika Hakkinen in the Hungarian Gramd Prix.
This form earned him a drive with Ferrari for 1959, and he stared his second season with the Italian team by finishing second in the Argentinian Grand Prix, but he was thrown from his car in practice at Monaco and broke an arm, leaving him on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.
It almost went right in the French Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand in 1972 though, as the race was his for the taking when he suffered a puncture and fell back to third place.

The history of Honda's works participation in the Coupe d'Endurance races during the years 1976 through 1980 is not as interesting and glamorous as the history of their "Golden Age" of Grand Prix racing during the sixties.
As it so happened the Dutch 600 km race was the first endurance race that year, and it was there that the Hondas made their first appearance of the season.
Their supremacy of the earlier years had for a great deal disappeared, due to the new FIM rules (as usual hampering development), which gave other teams a chance to catch up, since Honda was no longer allowed to use their technical expertise to the full.
