The art is non-official to the general public and the authorities, non-conformist in relation to the reality surrounding the painter and the predominant ideology and, "Other" compared with Social Realism and its tolerated variations.
Because they perceive the movement from a certain distance, the terms "non-official" and "Other" have been subject to changes in their meaning, whereas the expression "non-conformist" is more stable as it refers to the essential and more interiorised phenomena of the genre.
On the contrary, events such as the Picasso and Leger exhibitions at the Pushkin Museum and the early 20th century Russian avant-garde exhibition at the Maiakovski, seemed to have confirmed that a certain artistic freedom would be introduced.

Visual Kinematics and Psychovectors is a series of conceptual art works concerning itself with recontextualizing verbal thoughts on the mechanics of visual perception into a physics paradigm.
(1980- photos and text 24" x 30") takes 2 identical photographs of a parking lot and labels one of them North and one of them South implying that the camera is facing that direction when the photo is taken.

 Fine Art Portfolio - Fieldburn 1980
The canvas was subsequentally reworked in 1980 with the addition of a facetted, ploughed field motif recuring in my drawings of the period.
This motif was inspired by the agricultural landscape dividing the village communities of North Nottinghamshire.
The 'Fieldburn' canvas appears in several conceptual art events throughout 1980, including submission to the Young Contemporaries Exhibition in London, ascribing further iconic value to the piece.

Established in early 1976, the Atlanta Art Workers Coalition Ltd. was a non-profit organization dedicated to the exchange of ideas and information among Atlanta-based artists.
Atlanta Art Workers Coalition staff members Julia Fenton and Dan Talley were particularly interested in expanding the coalition’s modest newsletter begun the previous year into a legitimate publication for the second volume.
Thus the Atlanta Art Workers Coalition Newspaper was established in the bimonthly, tabloid-size format that the publication would maintain for the next 24 years.

When the Citizens Bank expanded in 1980, it fell upon Harvey Yellin and his crew at Samuel Yellin Metalworkers to recreate some of his father's Art Deco ironwork.
All in all, the 1980 addition is faithful to the original bank.

In 1980 Multnomah County adopted an ordinance requiring that one percent of construction costs for major capital improvement projects be set aside for public art.
The Regional Arts and Culture Council has administered the selection and maintenance of the county's public art since 1980.

Over 500 artworks have been purchased and/or commissioned since 1980, when both the City of Portland and Multnomah County passed ordinances requiring that one percent of publicly funded capital construction budgets be set aside for public art.
The most recently completed percent for art project, a partnership with Metro Regional Government, Multnomah County and the Port of Portland, incorporates artwork into the landscape resulting in multiple artworks and habitat enhancements by the team of Fernanda D’Agostino and Valerie Otani at the Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area.

Ultimately I was to take over that colunm, host art shows in the town and even get paid for my strips, which by then had improved in technique and content.
This was 1980 and I was in the home stretch of finishing high school and working toward college and scholarships and had to decide between a career in cartooning and my academics.
Thus the last Ace was published on February 15, 1980.
