 History of Computing: Videogames Index
Though the history of video games is a subsection of the history of computing, it is important to recognize how integrated this entertainment medium is to the evolution of computing hardware and software.
Since a video game is a sensory experience, the sound, the visual elements, and the interface that the player uses to interact witht the game cannot be divorced from the programmed logic and instruction set that provides the experience.
However, in order to document a history pertaining to the evolution of video games, it is important to recognize the myriad influences that have the most significant relevance to the continued growth of this entertainment medium.

Mario Clash - Reader Review - GameFAQs
Since 1983, the video gaming industry has made leaps and bounds, so if someone were to pitch the idea ''Let's remake Mario Bros.'' one would logically assume that there would be massive increases in the gameplay itself.
Games like Super Mario 64, Tekken Tag Tournament, and U.N. Squadron all showed off the capabilities of the system without being solely a tool for showing off these abilities - each game were great in their own right, yet fully displayed the systems they were made for.
I would have no complaints if the game were to use the 3D aspect to create new, interesting ways of playing the game, but when they are used pretty much only has an addition to the usual game, it looks and feels like a poor adaptation.

Apparently, the photo was taken so early (8 AM according to the book), that some of the invited players, most of who traveled hundreds of miles, didn't show up in time to take part.
The number of originally invited players is not known, but, a total of 18 showed up for the event (Walter's book erroneously indicates that it was 17, along with also stating that 15 players appeared in the picture, which is obviously not correct !).
