The new changed ceremonial flag was presented by the British Empire and Commonwealth Games Association of Canada for use at the Games in Vancouver in 1954.
This incorporated the symbol of the Games on a white background.
The ceremonial flags of the period 1954-1966 and from 1970 on, were presented to the Chairman of the British Commonwealth Games Federation by Colonel Jack Davies, President of the Commonwealth Games Association of Canada.

Glasgow will host the 2014 Commonwealth Games after the organisers submitted the city's plans to the judges and won by 47 to 24 votes.

If Glasgow gets the 2014 Commonwealth Games and its a big success I can see it bidding for a Summer games....its got a population of around 1.7 million (metro) which makes it the same size as places like Barcelona and Hamburg which are considering or have hosted.
If Glasgow got a Games I am certain Edinburgh would host some events...they're only 40 miles apart and are connected by motorway and high speed rail links....in fact there are plans to develope a super fast TGV line between them.....but a joint bid is totally out of the question.
Yet, beyond 2006, when Melbourne is to stage the Commonwealth Games, the big-events cupboard is conspicuously bare, with Sydney likely to be quiet after next year, unless Mr Carr has something up his lengthy sleeve.
