 1996 nba draft: Who? What? Where? Why? How?
Originally drafted from high school to play professional baseball with the Oakland Athletics as a pitcher, Johnson, a native of Sacramento, chose to play basketball instead, and was drafted for the 1987-88 season by the Cavs.
Drafted into the NBA in 1989, he played for Los Angeles Lakers until 1996 when he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets for the draft rights to Kobe Bryant, and has been playing for the Sacramento Kings since 1998 alongside his countryman Peja Stojakovic.
He attended the University of Houston and was drafted 14th overall in the 1983 NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers.
