The purpose of this study was to report the incidence of varieties of cleft lip and palate drawn from a regional database of all affected children in Northern Ireland during the period January 1980 to December 1990.
The report also compares the findings with those of other studies, concluding that the incidence of clefting in Northern Ireland is within the limits reported in the literature from the UK and elsewhere.
