Many students of science believe that science is not a part of their life outside of the classroom, and that science is dull and meant for only the intellectual elite.
Feminist science educators have also developed a conceptual framework for teaching science that focuses on rethinking the nature of science and science education rather than trying to reach equality in the science through the implementation of compensatory programs.
For example, embedded within the gender-inclusive science curriculum is a study of the social context which influenced the study of particular areas of science, and the consequences of the context on the scientific ideas developed and accepted within the scientific community.

Role Of Science In Knowledge Creation: A Philosophy Of Science Perspective
The alternative conception suggests that science is above all else a critical and analytical activity and the scientist is pre-eminently a person who requires evidence before he or she delivers an opinion, and when it comes to evidence is hard to please (Medawar, 1991: p.
Whereas philosophers located the source of the consensual character of science in the scientist's adherence to the canons of a logic of scientific inference, sociologists argued that science exhibited so high a degree of agreement because scientists shared a set of norms or standards which governed the professional life of the scientific community.
Science in general and knowledge in particular are believed to occur in an upward fashion: from data to theory to understanding (Bagozzi, 1984).

Reviewing the textbook 'Silver Burdett & Ginn Life Science' (1990)
This is not a book of science but a book of credulity and buffoonery, reflecting all the practices that the publishers of worthless "life science" books have been following for years.
They pretend to describe nature and science, but they are built around anthropocentric superstitions that contravene nature and will ruin anyone's efforts to learn or teach science.
Science discarded that notion in the early 19th century, because it clearly was wrong, but Silver, Burdett's writers are still promoting it.

Assessment of student performance is emerging as a crucial ingredient in the recipe for ongoing improvement of school science.
