Barbara Tucker was the most powerful diva voice in 1990s house music, so on her first album ever you’d be looking for one CD of her own work rather than two CDs of other house music selected by her.
Still, it’s interesting to hear that as a listener Tucker prefers the kinder, gentler textures of house music to the deep-beat fireworks that grace her own songs, and that she entrusts her picks to the disco purism of Ibiza DJs Samir Maslo and Pufo.
Pufo’s mix features harder, deeper beats than Maslo’s; he also drenches his music with dreamy sound effects and metallic noise typical of Italian beach disco — an importation quite appropriate for seaside Ibiza.
