The 34-year-old forward played at Georgia Tech and spent his first six NBA seasons with the Hawks, averaging a career-high 12.7 points in 1991-92.
They looked to move Blaylock, a two-time member of the NBA's all-defensive team who took most of the blame for Atlanta's stagnant offense this season.
Blaylock had been the catalyst for the Atlanta offense for the past seven seasons, but the aging Hawks are revamping their team after being swept out of the playoffs in the second round by the younger, quicker New York Knicks.

He signed with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the Continental Basketball Association where he averaged 23.1 points before rejoining the NBA with the Cavaliers late in the 1991-92 season.
A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Phills was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1991 NBA Draft (45th overall).
The Southern University graduate ended up being cut by the Bucks in December 1991 without playing a game for them.
