		This award is given to an outstanding picture book for young children--a book in which the text and illustrations are inseparable, each enhancing and enlarging on the other to produce a singular whole.
		Established in 1966, the award is a citation given to an American publisher for a children's book considered to be the most outstanding of those books originally published in a foreign language in a foreign country, and subsequently translated into English and published in the United States.
		This award is given annually to books (and also articles and booklets written in English or translated into English) dealing primarily with physics and astronomy, and directed at children from preschool age up to fifteen years of age.

		I know all of these awards are political & some more deserving than others, but I've gotten very good reads out of the winners of all of these prizes.
		As for higher literary awards, sometimes they'll bring the books to my attention, but to tempt me to read it the story must still appeal to me and meet certain criteria of my own before I'll pick it up.
		The Miles Franklin Award is the most relevant for me. I also take an interest in the Booker.
