The song itself should have easily won "Song of the Year" and the album deserved a nomination for best pop album of the year too.In 1989,though,Grammy voters were probably scared of Madonna and all the controversy that surrounded her back then...lol...
Really, the only awards that I count as meaning anything when it comes to music as apposed to just popularity votes is the Grammys and "Best Soundtrack" and "Best Song in a Motion Picture" at the Oscars.
