However, none of the singles released this year were million sellers, the first instance of this happening since 1990.
The only song to sell over a million in 1993 was one from the previous year, Whitney Houston's cover of I Will Always Love You.

The Universities have had a central role as a training ground for composers in acousmatic music in the UK and these, as is obvious even to a casual observer, are enriched by the presence of research students from abroad.
Music in the environment ('music out of music') was the starting point for Alistair MacDonald and Nicholas Virgo's joint work Busk (1988), where traces of instrumental and vocal sounds (Birmingham buskers), and the backdrop of their urban context, are framed and transformed within a freely-evolving soundscape.
This is not to suggest that the music does not stand by itself, which it does superbly, but that the vitality and energy of his sounds speaks of an ear revelling in the sheer sensual impact of the material.

The classical music section holds recordings of music in the western concert tradition, opera and liturgical music, and the pre-Baroque repertories of Western Europe.
The aim is to direct attention to the British Library's collection of recordings of western art music and to demonstrate the work being undertaken on recordings by music historians, musicologists of all kinds and performing musicians.
The British Library's Edison Fellowship Programme is designed to encourage scholarship devoted to the history of recordings of western art music and music in performance through creating the conditions for concentrated use of the Sound Archive's collections of discs and tapes.

Jars of Clay were formed at Illinois' Greenville College in 1993 by singer/songwriter Dan Haseltine and keyboardist Charlie Lowell; they soon added guitarist Stephen Mason, who like Haseltine, was a big fan of Toad the Wet Sprocket (a good secular reference point for the typical Jars of Clay sound).
All three were music majors in the college's new CCM department, and at first played together just for fun, writing a song for a class recording project.
They spent most of the year on the road, then took a break to work on material for their second album (they'd already released the Christmas EP Little Drummer Boy at the end of 1995).
