  Finland Music 1994
Each in their own way is expressing a pride in being Finnish by playing and listening to music that has roots in the past but is triumphantly honing a sharp contemporary edge to cut into the future.
Folk music was gaining stature all over the country in the '60s and '70s, with universities adding courses and festivals popping up everywhere, but it still seemed the domain of an dedicated few.
That spirit of adventure is translating into a boom of rich, creative music from all parts of the country, from the Karelian folk pop of Värttinä to the classical fusions of the old fiddler's tradition being explored by JPP.

The title "Hellig Usvart" is Norwegian, a fact which led many to believe, while Sherlock was still anonymous, that Horde originated from Norway, a fact backed up by the poor production quality on the album, considered to be a trademark of Norwegian fl metal.
Upon original release in 1994, 4,000 copies of the album were printed.
Horde's music is mostly simple, dark and very fast driving unfl metal-style with high pitch shrieking or growling vocals.

Now That's What I Call Music 1994 -- or just Now 1994 for short -- continues EMI's popular line of double-disc hits collections, with this entry appearing in the much longer lived British series.
It's a pretty entertaining sampler of some of the year's biggest British chart hits, with a particular emphasis on club and dance music, although some more pop- and rock-oriented cuts begin to appear toward the end of the second disc.
Since the songs are obviously restricted to EMI's catalog, it isn't a comprehensive survey of British pop music in 1994, but it does gather quite a few strong singles all in one place.
