The Championships, Wimbledon, commonly refered as simply Wimbledon, is the oldest and, arguably, most prestigious event in the sport of tennis.
Wimbledon usually lasts for two weeks; the main events span both weeks, but the junior and invitational events are for the most part held during the second week.
The nineteen courts used for Wimbledon are all composed purely of rye grass.

On Tuesday at the All England Club, in the quarterfinals of The Championships at Wimbledon, the 2005 US Open champion, 23-year-old 2nd-seeded # 2 Kim Clijsters from Bree, Belgium, defeated 24-year-old 27th-seeded # 30 Na Li from Wuhan, Hubei, China 6-4, 7-5 (Kim is shown after match point).
Michaella, whose half-brother Richard Krajicek won the 1996 Wimbledon title, is now 3-0 in WTA singles finals, winning this year in Hobart and last year in Tashkent.
The 2007 Championships will be played with no roof at all (the current partial roof removed), a new fixed partial roof will be in place in 2008, and the retractable roof completed in 2009.
