Formerly known as the Sonneck Society in honor of Oscar Sonneck (1873-1928), pioneering scholar and bibliographer of American music and head of the Music Division of the Library of Congress from 1902 to 1917.
Explores the full breadth of Puerto Rican music, with descriptions of native music genres including danza, folk music, plena, bomba, and salsa, as well as related genres such as the Cuban son, merengue, bolero, and jazz.
There are descriptions and photos of native musical instruments and an extensive collection of artist biographies (mostly Puerto Ricans) from all genres, each with a discography, photo, and sample audio clips of their music.

Eric Nicoli, chairman of the board of trustees of the EMI Music Sound Foundation and chairman of EMI Group said: "All of us in the music industry have a responsibility to find ways to ensure that all young people are given the opportunity to learn music.
Currently £50,000 of private sector funding qualifies a secondary school for a government grant of £100,000 followed by a further £129 per pupil per year for four years should it be successful in its bid for ‘specialist school status’.
To date, the EMI Music Sound Foundation has awarded amounts ranging from £15,000 to £100,000 to 25 secondary schools around England — from Basingstoke in the south to Stockton-on-Tees in the north to enable them to achieve specialist school status.

After a distributors' screening of a high budget feature, our music supervisor approaches the director pointing out that in one scene the actor speaks the words, which are easily identifiable as a line from a Lennon-McCartney song and advises that the line should be re-dubbed, as its clearance would be way out of the budget.

Global music sales continued to slow last year, with worldwide sales growing by a mere two percent in 1997 over 1996, according to figures released by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
The new figures indicate that North America reclaimed its position at the top of the global music market in 1997, with 33.8 percent of the market share, beating out Europe’s 33.3 percent.
This year UK market is going better and earned 1% (last year the percentage was 6%).

 Dressy Bessy: Little Music: Singles 1997-2002 - PopMatters Music Review
The opening track, "Live to Tell All", has so much energy it surely will inspire a new line of dashboard indie rock girl bobble dolls, bouncing around in their lollipop-stripped miniskirt, white nylons and matching knee-high go-go boots (Ealom's outfit of choice at SXSW).
The last track on Little Music is the demo version of "Tidy", a new song that utilizes a drum track to mixed results but also indicates that Ealom, Hill, bassist Rob Greene, and drummer Darren Albert haven't exactly lost their touch.
Those who have been fortunate enough to get their hands on the rest of the material on August's self-title follow-up, though, never had to worry about that.
