Leaving Barcelona in Spain, we cross the Atlantic to Ile Notre-Dame, a man-made island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River, where the Canadian Grand Prix is held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
He was second in his Canadian debut in 1992 and again in 1993, finishing fifth in 1995.
This Grand Prix is one of the most unpredictable races of the season.

The dispute led to the removal of the Canadian Automobile Sports Club as the national sporting authority of Canada but the race was back on again in 1988, after the track had undergone considerable modification.
In 1997 and 1998 the race belonged to Michael Schumacher (although he was lucky to win the second after the race was stopped because of a serious accident which left Prost's Olivier Panis with serious leg injuries).
In 1999, however, Schumacher made a rare error and crashed, leaving victory to go to his title rival Mika Hakkinen.

Luckily, the Canadian Grand Prix has less slow corners than at Monaco and it is in these that the J198 is said to suffer most.
This Grand Prix, however, should be more than a little different as the confines of the Monaco street circuit have been replaced by the fast straights of the purpose built Montreal circuit and not even the team expects to get both cars in the points here.

The safety car came out yet again, and history was made as Canada 1999 became the first Grand Prix ever to finish in this way.
