The Monaco Grand Prix (Grand Prix de Monaco) is a Formula One race held on the streets of the Principality of Monaco.
The Monaco Grand Prix predates the organized World Championships; the Principality's first Grand Prix race was organized in 1929 by Antony Noghes, under the auspices of Prince Louis II through the "Automobile Club de Monaco" (A.C.M.) of which Alexandre Noghes was the founding president.
The Monaco Grand Prix counted toward the European Championship from 1936 to 1939 (although the race was cancelled in 1938).

Such was the trepidation when faced with a copy of Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2 (is that title a world record?) that a thorough play test was in order before opinion could be submitted.
All of the real Grand Prix circuits are immaculately represented from the opening Australian street circuit, with it's challenging turns and wide chicanes, through Brazil, Argentina, San Marino, Spain, Monaco, Canada, France, England, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg and finally the twisting, turning endurance of Japan.
The only problems I faced with Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2 were firstly that the brakes were very, very responsive.

In the past, Monaco has been good to us but it wasn't to be this time.
As a driver, the circuit is the biggest challenge in F1 because you are racing in between barriers on a street layout with little room for error.
Obviously Brazil would be first choice for my 100th Grand Prix but Monaco is not a bad second choice at all.

The title "Monaco Grand Prix" may be a bit misleading.
Sharp turns are executed by pushing the analog stick all the way into one direction (none of that pull down towards you stuff) and like in most racing sims you can't just plow into a sharp curve at full speed and expect to make the turn.
Monaco Grand Prix's realistic features are backed by an excellent physics engine (based directly on Ubi's own F1 Racing Simulation engine), good car AI and responsive steering.

I took all the photos around the route of the circuit during a trip to the Principality in February 1999, with my company, Nortel Networks.
From the start-line, a short but rapid acceleration period is rapidly followed by a struggle for position as the drivers try to negotiate the right hand VIRAGE ST. DEVOTE for the first time.
This is the most dangerous part of the Monaco Circuit and many spectacular accidents have occurred on this first bend: curiously enough this is one of the few bends with a 'run-off' area.
